CANNABINOIDS WORK
Criminalization of cannabis significantly slowed research into the medical uses of cannabis and how it interacts with the body. It was not until 1988 that researchers at St. Louis University discovered how cannabis interacts with the human brain, identifying cannabinoid brain receptors that respond to the compounds found in cannabis.
Researchers have discovered that the cannabinoid receptors are the most abundant type of neurotransmitter receptor in the brain, and the human body naturally produces and responds to a wide range of cannabinoids.
Researchers eventually discovered an unknown molecular signaling system within the body that is involved in regulating a broad range of biological functions, the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS balances physiological processes within the body. If the body is out of balance, it synthesizes endocannabinoids that interact with the cannabinoid receptors to re-balance the physiological process.
Stimulating and supporting endocannabinoids can provide relief from a multitude of illnesses and conditions. In 1992, it was proven that the cannabinoids (CBDs) found in cannabis can be used to stimulate the ECS in the human body.
